After Ramu's fiancée, Tollea, is kidnapped by a lost tribe, the sailor and his friend Kado set out across the seas to find her. He discovers a Pacific Island paradise ruled by Tollea's evil twin, Naja, the Cobra Woman, who commands death to all outsiders. Not only does Naja have designs on her new prisoner Ramu, but she also tries to eliminate any competition from her benevolent sister.

It is in an atmosphere, therefore, of uncertainty, though undeniable beauty, that Jon Hall pursues his oft-pursued romance with Maria Montez in Cobra Woman.

The fiery colors, movements of the exotically-dressed crowds and the sumptuous palace settings add up to an eyeful, but the adults will regard the far-fetched doings indulgently and wish they'd brought along the youngsters.

Cobra Woman is just what the audiences expect it to be -- a glorious color film combining spectacle, a plot faintly similar to the average comic strip, and quantities of hand to hand battles.

If you go in the right frame of mind to [Cobra Woman], you might find amusement in the absurdities of the plot and in the antics of Montez, Hall and company.
